Home The Girls The Boys For Sale Scrapbook FYI

Itty Bitty Critter Farm goats are dairy goats so they will not be sold for meat. We want them to go to good homes only! A good home is one that provides all the following: another caprine companion (goats are social creatures and need other goats around them); a clean, dry, protected shelter (goats don't like to be wet!); fresh water, good quality hay and minerals; secure fencing to keep goats in and wandering dogs out; a large enough area to run, jump, and play (goat toys are a bonus - things to climb on like old spools or children's picnic tables, even stumps); a safe environment free of hazardous materials (this includes poisonous plants - be familiar with this list, especially yard flowers and plants); regular worming (we use herbal wormer) and health care; routine hoof trimming; but most of all...lots of love and attention! Also, find a veterinarian that knows goats (not all vets do). See our F.Y.I. page for more information. Although we originally only sold breeding stock and pet quality animals, we have now added registered stock to our family.

Each and everyone one of our breedings are planned. Bucks and does are kept separate to ensure the intended kidding, dates in which to expect babies, to monitor the doe and help with kidding issues, and to dip naval cords. We put a lot of time into each individual choice, choosing the best buck for each doe, whether it be for show quality and milking, or even just a weed eater or pet. We care about each and every one of our babies. We're striving not only to improve our herd but to improve the breed as well.

We play with all our babies to make sure they are used to being handled. This makes it much easier when it comes to hoof trimming and medicine time. Matter of fact, all our babies are a wee bit spoiled!

BLUE EYES - add $25.00

The Heart Family The Heart family consists of, from the right, mama Queenie, Minxy and SuzyQ. They have given us several babies this year. These are the first registered animals to actually be born on our farm. Queenie and Minxy are not for sale. They are pictured only for reference. Sadly, we lost SuzyQ December 2009. You can read her story on our Scrapbook Page under the "In Loving Memory" section.

We have beautiful registered breeding stock from wonderful bloodlines. (See lineage chart below.)

Queenie's Babies:
Queenie Babies Dec 2009 Nigerian Dwarf triplets - born December 4, 2009

Dam: Spicebush Farm Queen of Hearts/Sire: Hoppy Aden's Hoppy Too

Charlie and Lily will be available after February 15, 2010. They are in the process of being registered now. Sadly, Tiny Tim is no longer with us.

Lil' Sweetheart

Price $325.00

blue eyes

Lil Sweetheart Lil' Sweetheart, also known as Lily or Lil, is solid black with just a small white patch on top of her head and she has blue eyes. She is a precious little thing that isn't first in line, but by no means is she ever last. She loves being cuddled and petted. She sort of gets lost in the shuffle as Charlie is so outgoing, he roots in and is always first and her other brother, Tiny Tim, gets a lot of attention due to his leg problem.
Charcoal

Price $300.00

Charlie Charcoal is solid black with brown eyes. Charlie, as we like to call him, is the ring leader of this group babies. He is very bold and inquisitive, does not appear to be afraid of anything. We think he will make a wonderful herd sire and seems to have great form. Loves all the attention and is very insistent on being picked up and held.

Suzy Q's Babies:
Nigerian Dwarf triplets - born December 14, 2009

Dam: Spicebush Farm Suzy Q/Sire: Hoppy Aden's Hoppy Too

Due to their birth by c-section, we do not know which order they were born. From their personalities, I think I could guess! Since they do not have a mama, and due to their premature birth, they are living in our house and being bottle fed. They are all really friendly and all of them have plenty of energy, but that is just all in a goat's life. The first several weeks, all they did was eat and sleep. Those days are definitely over. Once they were old enough and lungs were strong enough (due to premature birth), they should have been migrated outside. Well, this is Missouri. Cold weather set in, then snow. At two months they are still in the house!

They will be available February 25, 2010. They are in the process of being registered now.

Dr. Lewis

Price $325.00

blue eyes

Dr. Lewis (aka Lewie) is black with white on his head. He has blue eyes. His personality is a blend of the other two boys, sort of mellow and laid back, but you can see this look in his eyes that says "what shall I get into now?" They all love to explore everything, very inquisitive.
Dr. Middleton

Price $300.00

Dr. Middleton (aka Doc) looks like mama. He is brown with lots of black on his body and has an irregular patterned white blob on his head and also has about one inch of white on the tip of his tail. Another difference in the two boys is the color of brown. Doc's brown has a greyish cast to it where Rin's has a golden cast. However, it's not something you would be able to tell unless both of them are side by side. Sort of like humans twins. You start noticing the subtle differences. He is definitely the trouble maker (in a good way, of course), into everything, another ring leader.
Dr. Ringen

Price $300.00

Dr. Ringen (aka Rin) also looks like mama. He looks like Doc except his white blob is smaller and more circled than Doc's is. He is more laid back, until it comes time for dinner - and breakfast and supper and snack time.....they all get a bit aggressive then. Rin would prefer to wait to eat just so he can be snuggled. Now who's the smartest?

Minxy's Babies:
Minxy and Lighting Nigerian Dwarf twins - born January 1, 2010

Dam: Spicebush Farm Minxy/Sire: Hoppy Aden's Hoppy Too

Lightning will be available after March 1, 2010. He is in the process of being registered now. Lil' Miracle will not be for sale.

Lightning

Price $300.00

Lightning Lightning is black with that same white little blob on his head and he has brown eyes. Because things got so hectic with bottle babies in the house, bad weather outside, just all kinds of stuff going on, poor little Lightning was not introduced to the love and support he should have been when he was born. He was not as friendly as most of our babies. But he's slowly come around. He really likes feed time. He got that one figured out really quick! Matter of fact, he hangs back because he knows I will hand feed him. Another really smart one!
Lil' Miracle

retained

Miracle Lil' Miracle is almost identical to her brother. She is black with two little white spots on her head, one that the horn has poked through and is hard to even see, and she has blue eyes.

How Miracle got her name....once again, our little Minxy had problems kidding. Last year, mama had lost a doeling due to malpositioned birth. So, this year, first kid comes out with no problems. Second kid is reluctant to come on out and play. Once again, we had to go in after it. Since her bubble appeared to have busted several minutes before, we "assumed" baby was probably dead. Her head was turned backwards and had to be repositioned. Minxy is so tiny herself, we just could not get her second baby out - we pulled, we tugged, we probably even said a few choice words. Again, assuming she was dead, we knew that baby had to come out one way or another. Once she finally plopped out, we couldn't believe she was still breathing, thinking she probably had brain damage, lungs full of gook, not going to make it anyway. Wrong, on all accounts. So, guess what? Another house baby. Since she could not stand up on either front leg (she would scoot around everywhere backwards), and we had been having this extremely cold weather, we (the humans) couldn't stay at the barn to hold her up to nurse every time she needed to ALL night long. She did get quite a bit of colostrum before we had to retreat to warmer surroundings, and we did supplement colostrum we had saved from other does. So we call her our little Miracle. She is as healthy as any of other goats, except where we tugged on her leg. Vet says nerve damage and it may or may not recover. (We are working with Missouri University at Columbia on her leg to try to save it.) Of course, being the youngest and the only girl in the house has its advantages. At only one week old, she was already spoiled rotten. What will she be at 6 months? She is about 3 weeks younger than the other bottle babies but she can hold her own with any of the other house guests!

Frosty

Price $150.00

Nigerian Dwarf single buckling - born December 11, 2009

Dam: Baby Jr./Sire: Buckwheat

Frosty is basically white with patches of tricolor on his shoulders extending down his back, one foot, and his face. He has brown eyes and is very inquisitive. Loves attention but does not want to be held, unless of course, it's his idea. He doesn't like the others getting what he declares as his attention so he is usually the first one pawing on your back or your leg saying "pay attention to me!"

Frosty will be available after February 15, 2010.

Snowball

Price $150.00

Nigerian Dwarf twin buckling - born December 12, 2009

Dam: Reba/Sire: Brock

Snowball is white all over with pink skin. That is probably not good for a boy! But he's a goat, so he probably doesn't care. He has a really cute little heart-shaped pink nose and has golden brown eyes. I think he and his brother are beautiful. They started out somewhat timid but got over that really quickly.

Snowball will be available after February 15, 2010.

Snowflake

Price $150.00

Nigerian Dwarf twin buckling - born December 12, 2009

Dam: Reba/Sire: Brock

Snowflake is also white all over with pink skin, that same little heart shape on his nose, and golden brown eyes. However, he has waddles. He is a little bit more timid than his brother but both still love attention. They nibble on you from behind if you don't give them attention. Of course, most of our babies do that - they all love attention!

Snowflake will be available after February 15, 2010.

Bandit

Price $150.00

Nigerian Dwarf twin buckling - born January 1, 2010

Dam: Pepper/Sire: Hoppy Aden's Hoppy Too

Bandit is one of the prettiest goats we've had at our farm. With brown eyes, he is black and white with a band around his upper body with lots of white on his legs, head and tail. He is outgoing and friendly, loves to be petted, even held.

Bandit will be available after March 1, 2010.

Zig Zag

Price $175.00

blue eyes

Nigerian Dwarf twin buckling - born January 1, 2010

Dam: Pepper/Sire: Hoppy Aden's Hoppy Too

Zig Zag or Ziggy for short, is another one of our pretty goats (although as boys, I'm sure they appreciate being called pretty). He was named for the zig zag pattern on his side. Although he has this beautiful zig zag of white on his left side, his right side has only one little white spot. Looks like two different goats. Ziggy has blue eyes.

Ziggy will be available after March 1, 2010.

Baby Girl (Penny)

Price $175.00

blue eyes

Nigerian Dwarf single doeling - born February 1, 2010

Dam: Penny/Sire: Buckwheat

Penny's Baby Girl does not have a name yet but is multi-colored with blue eyes and no waddles. This is the second baby for Penny and she looks just like Penny's first baby, Kuddles. I really haven't seen her personality yet but give it time. She'll get as much love and affection as everyone else gets. She does love to be held and snuggled already.

She will be available after April 1, 2010.

Baby Girl (Maggie)

retained

Nigerian Dwarf twin doeling - born February 8, 2010

Dam: Maggie/Sire: Hoppy Aden's Hoppy Too

Maggie's Baby Girl does not have a name yet either. She is a very light tan color with black dorsal stripe, black feet and black and white facial markings. On her left side are several white spots and her right side is a little less distinguishable, but it has some white also. She has brown eyes but no waddles. I think her personality is going to be mischievous. At less than a day old, she is going behind stuff in her pen hiding from mama. Mama cries for her and she just ignores her.

When she was born, it was an immediate decision that she would be retained. Sorry, she is not for sale at this time.

Baby Boy (Maggie)

Price $150.00

Nigerian Dwarf twin buckling - born February 8, 2010

Dam: Maggie/Sire: Hoppy Aden's Hoppy Too

Maggie's Baby Boy, yet to be named, is white with black stripes over his brown eyes and waddles like his mama. In fact, he looks just like his mama's baby pictures. His personality is yet to be seen also but he is real lively so far.

He will be available after April 15, 2010.

Available Herd Sires
All three of these guys are gentle, loving bucks that would make a great herd sire. None of these three guys like medicines or hoof trims, but Brock, Smokey and Buckwheat are all gentle enough that we have no problems getting them done. Hoof trimming usually takes two people but that is more my lack of expertise rather than their lack of cooperation. When given treats such as raisins or pretzels, I will remind them to be gentle and you can just barely feel them take the treat out of your hand. Sometimes you have to remind Buckwheat as he gets so excited he sometimes forgets. But one reminder and he does great.
Brock

Price $75.00

Nigerian Dwarf Buck born 10/06/06

Brock has long, very thick, course grey hair and has waddles, although it is hard to see them for his hair. He has golden brown eyes and has been disbudded.

Brock is just a big old pussy cat. He is a little bit reserved and shy, but once he gets to know and trust you, he will follow you around. He loves to rub on you and have his face rubbed.

He has fathered several of our babies here on our farm but we need a change of herd sire.

Buckwheat

Price $75.00

Nigerian Dwarf Buck born 04/28/07

Buckwheat is basically white with lots of coloring and extremely long hair. He has brown eyes, waddles which are extremely hard to see with his long hair and has been dehorned (see his story on Boys Page).

He likes to be treated more one-on-one so he doesn't have to compete. He's another one that loves his face rubbed, but he especially loves for you to scratch his hips. He'll dance around for you when you scratch, sometimes even almost laying down into your hand when you are scratching. Absolutely loves it! He doesn't like meds or hoof trims, but he's not a problem to handle.

Because of his size and the colors he produces, he has fathered lots of our babies, so we definitely need a change of herd sire.

Smokey

Price $75.00

Nigerian Dwarf Buck born 04/29/07

Smokey has long grey hair, waddles, brown eyes and still has his horns.

With a very gentle nature, he's another one that loves to be petted and loved. Likes lots of attention but can also entertain himself - looking at the girls or eating, of course.

He has fathered several of our babies here on our farm but we need a change of herd sire.

Other Goats Available

Sassafras (Sassy)

Price $100.00

(Possibly) Alpine/Nubian Cross Doe born 02/18/08 (twin to Sox)

Dam: Daisy / Sire: BigUn

Sassy is mostly black with white "socks" on each foot.. She has white stripes on her face around her eyes as well as her mouth. There is quite a bit of light brown on her, especially on her face. She is also very friendly but is more reserved. After she had given birth to her first babies, she became a very overprotective mother. She and Blaze are the only goats we have left that are not Nigerian. She's very lonely without her mama here and needs to go to a good home. Sassy as a baby is pictured on the left in the first picture with her brother Sox on the right.

She is due to kid in April and will be unable to transport until after that time.

Blaze

Price $75.00

Nigerian Dwarf and (possibly) Alpine/Nubian Cross Buckling born 04/11/08 (twin to Glory)

Dam: Sassafras / Sire: Buckwheat

Blaze was a beautiful salt and pepper mix of brown, black and white with facial markings that resemble an upside down wishbone, making a little blaze across his forehead. Now Blaze is older and wiser and lots blacker. He mostly has colorings on his face and neck and some on his backside, tail and legs. He was weaned in the pen with a buck that is the most gentle I've ever encountered, so he became just like that. Because he was younger and more timid than our other bucks (who just happened to be in rut), we felt we could not put him in with all the other bucks. So, he lives alone (yes, we know the rules), but he gets more attention probably than all our goats put together. He still has that wonderful personality that is just wonderful in a buck, more like one who has been bottle raised. We have to go through his pen to go to the chicken house and he helps me count the chickens each night as we put them to bed. Someone so graciously left us a puppy on our doorstep, so of course, we couldn't let him starve. Because he needed companionship, Blaze became his new best friend. Shortly after we got him, he went to that happy hunting ground in the sky and Blaze has been so sad ever since. Of course, in a few weeks time, he will be a lot worse than sad - he will have 11 buddies to raise and I hope he does as good a job as he trainer did.

Pricing

We ask that you come to the farm to see the animals before purchasing them. Our pricing structure is based on quality of animals with all animals being picked up at our farm as we do not ship. At this time, we do not accept deposits on animals via email.

Nigerian Dwarf goats do not have a specific breeding season as some breeds of goats do. Our breeding is staggered throughout the year so there may be kids available at any given time, although our kids will not be for sale until they are two months of age. We don't have a waiting list but we'll do our very best to keep our Sales Page up to date including expected due dates. If you are looking for something special, let us know, especially if it is a buck. It is best to email us with your request.

Once a decision is made to buy an animal, we will ask for half the purchase price as a deposit until pick-up arrangements can be made. The balance will be due prior to the time of pick-up.

If we don't have the perfect animal for you, we'd be happy to refer you to someone else who might. Also, look at our Girls and Boys page. See something there you like? Just contact us. We may have something for sale that is not listed.

A health certificate is required for transportation out of the state of Missouri. For importation requirements for your state, go to USDA APHIS Veterinary web site [http://www.aphis.usda.gov/import_export/animals/animal_import/animal_imports_states.shtml].

After The Sale

Along with the purchase of one of our kids, we will gladly supply new owners with a history of each animal that includes all medications that the animal has received as well as multiple resources and ongoing support. If needed, we'll demonstrate how to trim hooves, test for worms and if you choose to give your own immunizations, we'll also demonstrate giving an injection. We'll always be here for you, answering any questions you have and assist you any way possible. We strongly encourage new owners to learn about caring for goats before taking their new friends home.

As with other animals, caring for a goat involves commitment throughout the lifetime of the animal. Goats are intelligent, affectionate and entertaining creatures that will reward you with many years of companionship and delicious milk if properly cared for. If you are unwilling to invest in, or are financially unable to provide adequate shelter, nutrition and veterinary care, then goat ownership is NOT for you.

Please feel free to ask questions - we love talking goats!
